Enjoy the grind of streaming

Enjoy the grind of streaming Streaming may seem like an uphill battle when you're just starting out. You might think everyone else is ahead of you, that they have better equipment, better hosting techniques, or even better gaming skills. This is a very dark rabbit hole to fall into, which has stopped streamers from starting their journey or quitting before they've even given it a try. Keep in mind that established streamers used to be where you are today and have worked hard to get there. Streaming is difficult and constantly challenging, so instead of comparing yourself to others and focusing on what they have, you need to enjoy the process of growing your channel.  Redefine Success We spend a lot of time observing the achievements of others and constantly seeking inspiration on how we can achieve success. Doing that results in a never-ending race that gets us nowhere as we are blindly competing without purpose. As streamers, it is important to know that we will never truly...

Finding Inspiration for your stream

Finding Inspiration for your stream In streaming and content creation, you must draw inspiration from multiple sources to grow. What is inspiration? Psychologists define inspiration as motivation from an external source that causes a person to have an idea or to produce something creatively. Inspiration can be found everywhere around you, and I am willing to wager that you are not taking advantage of every piece of potential inspiration for your stream.  Do you watch other streamers or YouTube videos? Do you watch TV or read books, or watch movies and listen to podcasts? Do you work or go to school? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you are quite literally surrounded by content, information, and potential inspiration that could help you improve your stream. Whether something is entertaining or educational, it contains lessons that you could be learning.  In short, to improve your channel, you need to get inspired by everything. Inspiration comes in many for...

Networking: 3 Easy Tips

Networking: 3 easy tips Improving your stream and content is always important, but it is not all that matters to building a successful stream, and you don’t want to allow it to consume all your time. You will want to explore the vast landscape that is streaming and content creation well beyond your channel.  Meeting other streamers and getting to know their communities is very important. This will allow you to gain new followers, but more importantly, you will get inspired by new ideas, have someone to bounce ideas off, learn different techniques, and above all make new friends. Networking properly will help you gain streamer friends who will be willing to help you.  Many new streamers don’t want to put in the work and often opt for impractical practices or tricks that ultimately hurt their growth. We have all heard of the follow-for-follow or support-for-support schemes that fill your channel with empty followers, who will never actually watch or engage in your streams. As we...

Be Yourself On stream

Be Yourself on stream Allowing your true personality to shine during your stream can be terrifying, especially if you don’t have much experience in front of the camera. Many new streamers tend to hide behind the familiar or even mimic the style of some established streamers.  I have seen many try to emulate Dr. Disrespect, but they don’t realize the time and energy it takes to keep up that persona. Other new streamers also allow their own self-doubt to take over causing them to second-guess their own channel's value. These fears can lead to uninteresting streams that are either lacking personality or are too similar to other streams to truly stand out. Now I know it is difficult to put yourself out there. Speaking in front of strangers is terrifying to most people including myself. However, in order to stream it is something we all have to do. Allowing your authentic personality to come out on stream, will grant you the ability to run your channel in line with your values, y...
