Embracing Positivity: How to Stream with No Complaints

Embracing Positivity: How to Stream with No Complaints

Streaming can be a daunting task, often leaving you feeling overwhelmed and burdened by its responsibilities. It is common to resort to complaining and making excuses to cope with the stress, whether it is venting on air or lamenting to friends about the lack of free time or the lack of progress you feel you are not making. However, such behavior can negatively impact the long-term success of your streaming career. Associating your stream with negative connotations may lead to resentment toward your passion. Moreover, complaining on stream can make it unenjoyable for your viewers.  Complaining is a primitive defense mechanism that garners empathy but offers no real solutions. Unfortunately, it can become addictive, with chronic complainers finding it increasingly challenging to stop. However, it is possible to break the habit and overcome this mindset, but it will require effort and dedication.

Prioritizing the essentials

To break your habit of complaining, it’s crucial to focus on the positives of what you are doing rather than dwelling on the negatives. This could include the joy of gaming online, the satisfaction of building something and seeing it grow, or the chance to share your thoughts with people worldwide. Choose the reasons that matter most to you and remind yourself of them often. It is also helpful to share your positivity with your community. Instead of griping about work hours or technical difficulties, express gratitude for the support of your community and their patience. Overall, you’ll experience less frustration by concentrating on the positive aspects of your streaming experience.

If you are balancing streaming with a full-time job, it’s important to manage your time well and avoid letting streaming spill over into other areas of your life. Maintaining a healthy balance between streaming and other aspects of life is crucial for success and effective time management plays a vital role in achieving this. Managing your time efficiently will decrease your anxiety associated with streaming and reduce negative emotions. Don’t allow streaming to become a source of complaints, as this could lead to resentment in the future. By projecting positivity, both on and off-stream, you will create a more enjoyable experience for yourself and your audience. Remember, your attitude has a profound impact on your well-being and the perceptions of those around you.

Surrounding yourself with positivity

A seemingly simple action that can have a significant impact on your mental health and well-being is unfollowing your real-life friends on social media. Witnessing constant negativity, complaints, and arguments among people you know online can be a major source of stress, even if you don’t realize it at first. I never realized how much it affected my mood until I reduced my follower list and rid it of negativity. It’s important to consider whether these influences are worth the potential toll on your happiness. If you are hesitant to delete your social media accounts, consider reducing your follower list by unfollowing people who spread negativity in your feed. It is easy to underestimate how much these online interactions affect us, but by taking action, you can improve your daily mood and overall well-being.

If you are reluctant to delete your social media accounts altogether, consider unfollowing anyone whose content has a negative impact on you. However, it is essential to do so without making a self-righteous announcement about it. In my experience, it can be challenging to remove friends or acquaintances from your social media feeds, as it almost feels like a personal attack. To overcome this feeling, write down their usernames in a document, this gives you the option to re-follow them later if you want to. By minimizing the number of people you follow, you can create a social media environment that supports your mental health and emotional well-being. This simple step can have a profound impact on your social media experience and your ability to focus on your goals, leading to a sense of satisfaction and contentment.

Final thoughts

In the previous entry titled Mindset - don’t tell just do we discussed how sharing your plans with others can trick your brain into feeling like you’ve already achieved your goals. Similarly, complaining may give you a temporary sense of relief, but it’s ultimately unproductive. While complaining on your stream may generate some conversations, it can also drive viewers away. Personally, I tend to leave streams when a streamer starts complaining about something for an extended period of time, and I’m sure others feel the same way. Complaining outside your stream can also weigh you down mentally and make it harder to perform when you go live.

While complaining may seem like an easy solution at the moment, kicking the habit will be an investment in your streaming future. Streaming is more enjoyable without complaints, and it’s worth the effort to break the habit early. Avoid creating a negative atmosphere on your stream and work on developing a positive mindset. Your viewers will appreciate it, and you’ll likely find streaming to be a more rewarding experience.
