Don’t wait to Start your Streaming Journey

Don’t wait to Start your Streaming Journey

Starting in streaming can be tough. This blog stresses the importance of setting aside pride and jumping into streaming as soon as possible. Yet, we understand the fear that comes with it. It's easy to envision starting a significant project and developing numerous elaborate plans, but when it comes time to put ourselves out there, apprehension sets in. Time marches on, and the longer we wait for the "perfect moment" to begin, the more we unknowingly let our best opportunities to achieve our goals slip away. Please, don't hesitate to continue pursuing your streaming dream.

Beyond the Pages: The Dangers of Passive Waiting

My heart has always had a place for the classic novel "To Kill a Mockingbird." Its characters are captivating, and it subtly boasts one of the most poignant narratives in literature. However, while I hold the book in high regard, I believe it conveys a somewhat risky message. Scout Finch, the protagonist, navigates her small town with a sense of curiosity but often waits for external events to change her circumstances rather than taking proactive steps herself. She observes injustices and waits for others to address them rather than confronting them head-on. This theme of passive waiting for change is not unique to the novel; it's a recurring motif in many narratives about societal issues and personal growth.

Of course, these are works of fiction. No miraculous shortcuts or enchanting solutions await us in the real world, and it's not as though we model our lives after these tales. Nevertheless, many individuals similarly approach their real-world ambitions. Whether they doubt their abilities, cite their busy schedules, or simply feel apprehensive, a significant portion of people are content to wait for favorable circumstances to arise. They find reasons to delay pursuing their lifelong dreams or seek external factors to assign blame in the meantime. However, life doesn't operate on such passive terms; nobody will swoop in and launch us into our passion projects. Instead, many of us continue to postpone, year after year, decade after decade, until eventually, our dreams slip beyond our grasp. The cruelest irony lies in that we convince ourselves that we haven't forsaken our dreams throughout this prolonged waiting period. As a wise adage goes, "We don't tell ourselves, 'I'll never chase my dreams.' Instead, we say, 'I'll pursue them tomorrow.'

Taking the Leap

Here's the thing: in your streaming journey, you'll need to embody both Scout Finch and Atticus Finch. Merely desiring success isn't enough; you must take action. Regardless of the challenges or embarrassment you may face, waiting for the perfect moment will only hinder your progress. Don't hesitate. If you've read through the previous entries and still haven't started streaming, commit to doing a broadcast before moving forward. Don't worry if you lack fancy equipment; We have previously discussed how you can start streaming with no setup or financial investment.

Remember, learning without doing will only hold you back.

Even seasoned streamers encounter obstacles in their creative journeys. I recently faced one myself. Despite my passion for education and just chatting streams, I hesitate to stream it due to perfectionism and self-doubt. But I am realizing I am falling into the same trap as Scout Finch, waiting for the perfect moment. So, I will take the plunge and start streaming the content I want to present. I anticipate that all my worries will be unfounded. Taking that first step will reignite my passion and enjoyment.

Final Thoughts

Reflect on your channel for a moment. Have you encountered a similar challenge in your streaming journey? Even if you've been streaming consistently for months or years, there's likely some aspect you've been hesitant to tackle. Don't delay any longer. Find a way to push yourself to take that first step, even if it's not as perfect as you envisioned. In one of the initial Streamer Framework entries, we emphasized the importance of never using the term 'someday' when describing your plans, especially if you genuinely intend to follow through. I once regarded puzzle games as a 'someday' project, but by altering that mindset, I eventually began playing them on my streams. Much like Scout Finch, I discovered that I was far more capable of the adventure than I initially believed once I took that initial leap. So, regardless of the dream you're nurturing and your familiarity with streaming, do yourself a favor: Don't procrastinate any longer in pursuit of your streaming dream.
